We had Sophie's dress rehearsal for her ballet recital tonight. She did great, and it was very cute. The preschool dance classes got to have their own time to rehearse (so they wouldn't have to sit through everything else), so we got to watch all three preschool dance classes perform their numbers, plus their part of the finale dance.
Ben won't be coming to the recital with us tomorrow. Instead, he's having a sleepover with Great Grammy. So we brought him to the dress rehearsal tonight and that worked out perfectly. Everyone was in full costume on the stage with the full music and lights, and we got front row seats to watch. He could see three different classes, which is just about what his attention span can handle, and then we got to head home. I'm so glad we brought him, because he loved it - but I think we made the right choice to have him skip the full recital this year. Who knows - next year maybe he'll be dancing in it!
As for Sophie, she had a ball. This is only part-way through a crazy weekend for her. She had her water day at school this morning, the dress rehearsal tonight, then the recital tomorrow afternoon, then we're taking her out to dinner, then she has her preschool graduation on Sunday, and a little party at home afterward. She's pretty much on cloud nine right now. It's going to be busy, but such fun.
