New Room

The kids and I spent today re-arranging their rooms. Well, I should say their room. After spending most of the summer camped out together on Sophie's floor in their sleeping bags, they asked me if they could share a room. I had them really think about it and we talked about it over a few days, and they were still adamant that they wanted to make the change.

So today we moved Ben's bed into Sophie's room and moved things around so they can better share the space. Sophie was happy to clear space on her shelves and give him room on the walls to hang some of his things. We moved an old full-sized Bed into his old room, and now we have an actual guest room again if we should need it. There simply isn't enough room to move his clothes, but that's ok because the guest room closet wasn't going to be used for anything anyway - so that still has Ben's clothes in it. We also kept his big book shelf in there with most of the kids' books on it. We moved a small desk in there, too, and now the kids can use that space as a reading/writing area if they want to.

I'm really happy with the way it turned out and the kids are loving it. They are so close right now and making the change didn't cost anything but an afternoon of effort - so why not? It was a lot of fun tucking them into bed tonight and then going downstairs and hearing them chatting away with the lights out. They really love each other and they're so lucky to have that kind of relationship.
