Open House Night

Sophie's Open House at school was this afternoon. She's been so anxious to meet her teacher and see her classroom. When we got there, we got a "Kindergarten Scavenger Hunt" list to complete in her classroom, including things like finding the bathroom, choosing a cubby, writing her name on the sign-in list, and so forth. It was a fun way to explore the room. 

She was particularly thrilled when we walked in and saw that her friend Allie, from preschool, was going to be in her class. Another boy, Noah, who was in preschool with them and also in Sophie's swimming lessons is also in her classroom - so including Trevor, who we already knew about, there are four of them from the same preschool class together. It's pretty cool that she'll already have some friends. 

Ms. McIntosh seemed very nice and she gave Sophie a very warm welcome. It was hectic and we didn't get much time to talk with her, but Sophie likes her and is looking forward to get to know her better. 

After we finished looking around the room, we went out to the playground for a few minutes and Sophie chatted with a few other incoming Kindergartners we know. 

Then it was actually time for Ben's preschool Open House. This wasn't quite as much of a big deal, as he already knows Ms. Laurie and is familiar with the class already - but it was still fun for him to go back and reconnect before school starts next week. 

I still can't believe both my kiddos will be starting school so soon!
