Today was "Family Day" at Ben's preschool. The students invited their family members to come visit their class, watch circle time, and join in for snacks. It was very cute. Ben was a little shy and didn't want to stand for things like the pledge or singing, but he was quick to answer Ms. Laurie's questions and definitely knew exactly what was going on, even if he didn't want to participate right then. He wasn't the only one who was a little shy, so I'm not worried about it - seems pretty common at his age.
One thing they did at circle time was each student stood up with Ms. Laurie while she showed their family tree project and read a little story about their family. Ben's paper had a cutout of a tree that the he had colored and painted, then glued on a photo of our family. Under that, there was Ben's story that Ms. Laurie had typed and printed out for him.
Ben's story said:
"With my family, I like to go to Story Land. It's far away, almost at Grandpa Ben's house. My favorite ride is the rollercoaster. It makes my belly hurt, but I'm not afraid. We go to Applebees and we go home. Going home is not as much fun as Story Land. I love my family. They do nice things for me."
What a funny little guy. We were very proud of him, and it was fun to see him at school in that environment. He really loves his classmates and has a lot of fun at school.
