Record Store Day

Yesterday was Record Store Day, an annual event to support independent music stores, and we've made a habit to check out the events at one of the local Bull Moose stores (our favorite place to buy our music). Last year Sophie and I saw an in-store Ani DiFranco performance, and this year we took the whole family out to see Anais Mitchell. She was in town for a show in Portland last night (which Brianna and I also saw), and the kids thought it was pretty cool to get a chance to see her, too.

This was ben's first "concert" and he was pretty excited. Sophie spent the car ride counting the concerts she has been to (now four) and talking about her memories. It was a fun little outing.

The kids staked out some good seating right up front as soon as we got there and waited pretty patiently for things to get started. They were both mesmerized. Ben got a little antsy during the last song, but overall he did very well for a three-year old. As soon as the show was done, they made an announcement about Anais sticking around to sign CDs. Sophie was all over that. She headed right over to the line and told Anais her name when it was her turn. She was thrilled to have her second personally autographed CD for her collection (the first is Leah's album, of course).
