Here's Sophie after we removed the dressings from her two chest tube sites this morning...
It's amazing to me that they can just be covered up with band-aids now. The human body is pretty incredible with its healing powers. Both sites look great - she's sure to have some small scars there, but it will be pretty minimal. The site where the last tube came out (the one toward the back) is definitely more "fresh" looking, but still looking great. Sophie was pretty intrigued by the wounds. We saw the areas while the tubes were still in, when it was time for them to be taken out - but once they were pulled, the dressings were applied immediately. The first time the dressings were changed at the hospital was when Sophie was under anesthesia having her PICC line inserted, so this was the first time we'd seen them uncovered. It won't be too long before she won't even need the band-aids.
